it's really good! I never read any particularity about the story so it did surprise me! By the end of the film I was extremely frustrated.. and goddammit how I hate Rosemary husband..
My only hope she went on a killing spree following the end of the movie.. she got reasons to kill all them bastards.

Rosemary's Baby is a work of sheer brilliance that left me in complete awe. The music, the direction, the cast, and the atmosphere is everything that some modern horror should take notes on.

Roman Polanski is a master of his craft and he perfectly builds up the tension in every scene that makes the mystery even more engaging, as you the audience get interested in what's going on like Mia Farrow character. Speaking of Mia Farrow, shes pretty damn amazing in this and one of her best performance I've seen from her. The same goes to the rest of the cast, especially John Cassavetes and Ruth Gordon.

The movie is a slow burn, but the pay off is satisfying and I always like that in movies when everything adds up to the end. You Know what, I'm kinda disappointed that I didn't watch this sooner, but thankfully I did, even at this time.

I watched this movie because mother! had a poster that parodied this. I should not of waited so long to watch this. Fantastic movie with a great performance by Mia Farrow. I'm not a huge fan of the horror genre but this is a great example of how to make a movie scary without any jump scares or any other tricks. Its just very creepy and makes you uneasy. You never know exactly what is going on.

Best poster of all time? I just love it so much. The rock landscape making a silhouette of a pregnant woman and the two title words joining to show "Rosemary's" attachment to her "Baby". And the fade face is so perfect urgh. So glad it didn't go for a 'satanic' red and black visual too, that would've been corny - instead it goes for a murky green that's not even in the movie. It's so aesthetic to look at, but also iconic as hell.

And yes, still one of the best films ever made.

Better than Tenant or Repulsion, but a slow roll movie with no scares and really light horror

I appreciated Rosemary's Baby a lot more on this revisit. I loved the introduction of the characters and setting up the suspense within the first 20 minutes. Then it becomes a movie of a bunch of horrible people gaslighting a poor woman.

This is another example of a pseudo-intellectual art-house experiment that has gone tragically wrong. Words cannot describe how awful the fillm is...

"Rosemary's Baby" works the opposite way of "Repulsion". While the source of Carol's paranoia came from the inside, Rosemary's struggle comes from the influence of the outside. She is first introduced as some kind of unreliable narrator, to the point that we are never sure if what we are watching is actually happening or not. The real surprise is that, for once, it didn't just happen inside Rosemary's head: the evil is actually residing next door, lurking beneath the respectable middle-class.

It's an interesting film with a peculiar mood, but I never found it even remotely scary or unsettling. I particularly liked the sarcastic dialogues between the couple and all the little details that can be discovered on a rewatch.

Slow but well crafted movie. The tension builds exponentially from the start. Pretty creepy by the end. I liked the ending but personally I'd liked to know what happens next. Mia was both exellent and occasionally bad, but I think she did a good job overall. Everyone else were good.

Rosemary's Baby is a slow burn horror with terrific performances and an excellent screenplay. I am a bit torn on the film, I do think it is a great psychological movie but it certainly is not one of my favourite horror films. It is not that scary if I am honest. I am not sure what people find terrifying about it. Theirs one scene where Rosemary dreams she is raped by Satan, it is filmed incredibly well, but was not frightening. Rosemary does have an interesting arc and her physical transformation was a really intriguing one for sure. The movie does have some pacing issues and the over 2 hour runtime does not help. I did get a little bored in certain parts of the first half. The many twists and turns in the 2nd half worked in the films favour and kept me engaged enough that lead up to the incredible end. It was quite a shock to me and I actually wanted to see more. This was more a film of two halves for me. I wish the slow start was more engaging.

8/10

First watch for me I know this is a big time classic but i'm quite disappointed. It has everything going for it the acting, cinematography and the psychological horror elements are top notch... but it's as though the movie is missing a climax you're just waiting for something to finally happen but then it's just the credits.

"Rosemary's Baby" is a film that is unsettling in the distance it keeps between Rosemary, and those that she believes love her. Satanic terrors aside, it really tells the tale of a woman alienated from her friends, husband, and even her newborn. It's devastatingly depressing not because of its downbeat and off-kilter conclusion, but due to the total separation of Mother and Child.

The film is moody and disturbing but not horrific. The characters are unforgettable and the acting is superb. However, it also plays campy and ends on a rather silly note. The "Hail Satan!" cheers are as giggle-inducing now as they were chilling to theater goers in the late 60's.

I didn't care for it when I was a teenager but now I see what a masterpiece it is. People who expect jump scares or gore every 10 minutes (which were the only kind of horror movies I knew back then) will be disappointed.
I can now empathize with Mia's character after seeing how she's being gaslighted.
