I've seen the original, which starred Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, & William Holden. So it's only appropriate I'd type this as I watch this 1995 remake in 2018 on a rabbit-ear channel at 1:16 am. First of all, it's an axiom that nobody can imitate or emulate Audrey. If this film was any better I'd just say "Well at least Julia Ormond tried." However this film does seem to copy elements of the original, such as filming the unpopulated scenes of the manor in the opening & David sitting on broken glass while throwing in that "90s edginess" such as Harrison Ford shooting a big screen TV that I can say at least the director tried but wince at the latter. & as for the Ormond trying to imitate Hepburn (in which she doesn't even halfway meet the Audrey standard) or make this 1995 role of Sabrina her own, there must be a reason why I don't hear about Ormond these days (whereas Ford continues to make "Star Wars" & "Indiana Jones" movies) as the new haircut she gets in Paris kinda makes her look like a man. Hell, personally I'd like to see Rachel Weisz or Daisy Ripley star in the next "Sabrina" remake since Hollywood continues to make remakes & reboots (but mostly of TV shows rather than films for a reason). But if there is no "Sabrina" remake around the corner, blame this so-so version.
