So bad, yet almost good?

'Santa Girl' has all the hallmarks of a terrible, straight to 1* rating film. Yet, somehow, I kinda had a fine time watching it. It made me laugh a few times, I'm just not sure if I was laughing at it or with it. It does feature two of the worst pieces of FX I have ever seen: one involves the Tooth Fairy (yes, really) and the other involves a sports car.

The cast are up-and-down. Barry Bostwick brings charm as (the surprisingly mostly absent) Santa Claus, while I genuinely found McKayla Witt's Pep enjoyable. Jennifer Stone is meh in the lead role, she has a couple of alright moments but is mostly underwhelming; same with Devon Werkheiser (Sam) and Joshua Cody (JR). Hank Stone is somewhat solid as Jack Frost.

I don't know why, but I didn't dislike this at all. But it's also, most definitely, not good so... 5*, which is actually a positive for this I'd say.

Jennifer Stone stars in the straight-to-video holiday romantic comedy Santa Girl. After getting accepted to college Santa’s daughter Cassie is allowed to go for a term conditioned on her return for her impending arranged marriage on Christmas Eve, but while at school she falls in love with someone else. Apart from newcomer McKayla Witt (who has a lot of fun energy), the acting is awful, and the plot is trite and clichéd. Additionally, the film’s low-budget shows through in the sets and costumes. Forgettable schlock, Santa Girl is an incredibly cheesy rom-com that has no real ambitions.
