Sure, The Godfather made Al Pacino a star, but Serpico kept him one.

Thought - provoking film +amazing music totally recommended

My father is a fan of Al Pacino and he always told me about a film where he was in called Serpico. I already knew the story of the film. It was about a policeman, Frank Serpico, who were the only honest man of his division, he believed in justice but all of the others around him were corrupt. He was the only one who doesn't accepted any kind of bribes, he not let himself take by greed and he had the courage to denounce the situation even knowing that everyone would turn against him. Sounds like a great story, but even with my dad always recommending me this film I don't know what took me so long to see it but I'm glad I finally did.

Al Pacino is one of the greatest actors in the history of cinema no doubt, and in here his work doesn't surprise because he is amazing, once again. Serpico is such an interesting and complex character and Pacino is able to play him in such a cool and smooth way.

This story is very believable, and told in a very real way with the perfect atmosphere of the 70's, afterall it's based on the true story of Frank Serpico. Serpico is a fantastic film due to the fantastic direction of Sidney Lumet.

A uniquely inspirational, and often frustrating film, about a man's fight for justice. Incredible performance from Pacino.

Nice movie, with a very good acting from Al Pacino. The narrative is good enough and have some memorable scenes but, overall, its a bit too simplistic for its own sake. One can easily guess everything thats going to happen right from the first very few minutes of the movie. This is not a big problem since its a 70's movie, so it could very well have been original enough at the time, but it still is outshined by some other police dramas that came after.
All in all, its an entertaining movie, with a simple, yet interesting, narrative and good acting through and through. The worst part is probably the ending, which is quite abrupt and unsatisfactory, at least for me.

This movie is really good with Al Pacino (Serpico) giving almost a career-defining performance as he portrays this real-life person perfectly. Serpico kept me on the edge of my seat for the entire viewing and it makes you feel frustrated knowing that it was a true story and also looking at the news today and knowing that this corruption in the police departments is still going on.

If you are a fan of Al Pacino, you need to watch this film and if you are a fan of films like Training Day then this is the one for you. Just understand this film was made in the 70s, so some of the editings can be a bit abrupt and confusing.

Weirdly enough, after researching the true story of Frank Serpico and knowing some of the bits left out of this film, I'd definitely like to see a filmmaker like Martin Scorsese or Spike Lee remake this film with modern editing and acting as some of the side actors are not very good in this film. But otherwise, this is a great film and I recommend it.

i love al pacino as serpico. serpico's story is great. al pacino's talent is almost unreachable.
