This movie had a lot of potential, but it spread itself too thin on needless subplots instead of focusing on a simple story.
What the movie gets right is having a solid quartet cast as mostly sympathetic, if not nearly as reluctant, bank robbers.
Another bonus was having Dr. Dre in what could have only been a cameo, but turned out to be a bigger role, which actually showed him to outshine the other actors by keeping his performance simple.
Two other gripes are the choices of music - especially the music during their first robbery, I was expecting Charlie Brown, and Snoopy to show up - and the scene where the ladies have a _Godfather_ moment. What was that about? I'm sure that was funny on set, but it didn't fit.
The ending comes across as hollow, the love story is forced... there's a good thirty minutes of dead weight that needed to be cut.
I did enjoy how we got fully fleshed-out characters who have different personalities. However, the problem with that was having too much time with the individual characters. The only person we really needed time with was Tisean. Yes. This is her movie... or at least it should have been. She was the one with the most to lose, and the one least adept for the job. The other ladies seemed to be motivated only by spite.
I really think if this movie had focused on being more grounded, sticking to a ninety-minute runtime, and had Tisean as the lead, this would be a classic. Sadly, it just comes across as dated.
