It was mediocre and let's just be honest here,Trevor Wright(Zach) was horrible. His acting was not good at all.I don't know if he is a shitty actor or if he was just bad in this one(I haven't watched anything else he's in).
Brad Rowe(Shaun)was a lot better, maybe that's because he actually can act.
Trevor Wright definitely ruins the movie a bit and the fact that he is the main character makes it even worse.
I have a lot of negative things to say about this movie, obviously, but that doesn't mean I hated it.
There's quite a few scenes that are really awkward to watch because of the bad acting. If Brad Rowe was a shitty actor too then this movie would probably have sucked, like a lot.He kind of saves it,honestly.
Also, the scenes between Cody and Shaun were really sweet.
The dialogue was also quite weak or maybe weird/unnatural would be a better word.
All that being said,my biggest problem with this movie was Trevor Wright, not good ,man, just not good at all.
Is it worth watching?I don't know,not really

We have to shout out for this movie: it's a beautiful ending for a queer family arrangement. It's sweet, it's cheesy and it follows a classic romantic-movie-101 script. Nowadays, many of us are discussing whether it's really necessary to romanticize these heteronormative constructions and try to incorporate them into our lifestyles. Still, it was 2007. This was already revolutionary enough for a time when most of the gay centered films ended up in tragedies, heartbreak, AIDS, murder or anything worse. Shelter is a fair film by smaller producers with cozy atmosphere. Acting is not great, but it's not THAT bad either (sometimes it actually is).

A simple story well executed by a cast with chemistry. A beautiful soundtrack, especially the songs by Shane Mack, that add so much to the emotional ebb and flow of the movie. A few technical issues are apparent but this remains a capsule of pure magic to this day. Tina Holmes is outstanding in her role, pivotal really, but this is still all about Shaun and Zach!
