• Erl Dongsheng has grand ambitions, aiming for an epic and compassionate gangster film, but the script has flaws, and the casting seems market-driven, resulting in a somewhat awkward movie with diminished value.
• Jackie Chan for the Japanese market, Xu Jinglei for the mainland market, and Daniel Wu for the Hong Kong market – if these actors were replaced, and more suitable choices made, it could significantly enhance the film's quality.
• This movie now seems to lack a clear identity; it's neither truly artistic nor strictly a gangster film, blending elements without excelling in any. It's become a bit awkward.

This movie is incredible and any Jackie Chan needs to watch it as this is by far one of (if not his) best performances, with this film actually being packed with lots of emotional moments. It is less of an action movie and more of a thriller, but it does have those moments to satisfy Jackie action lovers. Also, the movie has a very deep story which talks on how immigrants are treated in many countries and also about how power can go to someone's head as this movie at times feels like an Asian take on Scarface.

Jackie is awesome in this film, but I would be doing an injustice if I didn't bring up Daniel Wu (Jie) who by far has one of the best performances and character developments and every time I see him in a film I always find he almost steals the show. Give this movie a chance and I promise you will not be disappointed.

And just remember SUBS OVER DUBS!!!!!!!!!!
