Okay so it's from 1965 and about 1933. Racism laced into the entire thing from negative stereotypes of Hispanics, anti-semitic and an off cuff call-out of anti-black white America at both times(65 and 33). With a solid pinch of the anti-handicapped attitudes of the Nazis also.

What made it so great is it's just all these people living their lives while questioning everything., including a German war hero from WWI who truly believes his being a "good" German will set him above other Jews....

It's nauseating to think that we still live in a world where some minorites think racists aren't talking about them and are happy to tow the line and sit at the small table just to pretend they have a seat at all. Uncle Tim Scott, Senator from SC, is the epitome of the same minstrel as the war hero.

You could remake this movie right now with the Brits or the USA citizenry as the center piece using the onslaught of Brexit or Trump and all the rhetoric is basically the same crap. Those who refuse to learn from the past are doomed to repeat it, not because of the loud mouthed hypocrite magazine man selling Nazi as okay, but all the idiots just wandering around in their own lives pretending it's got nothing to do them. It's got everything to do with all of us and even more fault lays with those who feel "bad" but do nothing or even worse normalize it.
