An absolutely wild ride of a movie that starts with Clive Owen stabbing a man in the head with a carrot and only goes up from there. Before Crank 2 I would have said this is the most video game movie of all.

Soo ridiculous, soo over-the-top and soo damn fun! It's zany, looney toons action, with tons of blood and humor. It's tongue is planted firmly in its cheek.

I’ve not seen this film since it’s realise in cinema 2007 and it’s still a cracking action packed film and yeah it has its cheesy bits but it covers it up mostly with its cast and style of action and comedy and definitely a R rated altertive (children and men) that’s another sound film also starring (Clive Owen) as main lead.

One of the most over-the-top action movies of the 2000s...I loved it.

Absolutely ludicrous over-the-top action movie with completely unnecessary amounts of shooting ranging between incredibly accurate (the good guy) to amazingly inaccurate (the many many bad guys). So excessively stupid it was great for when you need something truly brain dead with no real story

Many, many years ago I saw Shoot 'Em Up for the first time. The movie rocked from the first minute. Some unrealistic action nonsense that was just fun. Just now I watched the movie again. And lo and behold, nothing has changed. The movie is still infinitely more fun. Clive Owen is a terrific action hero. Inconspicuous and without a name he simply slaughters everyone. Monica Bellucci is, as always, gorgeous and a harmonious addition to our hero Smith, who hurls a baby around as if he were practicing for the hammer throw. You just have to squeeze one or two eyes and let the whole thing happen. None of it really makes sense. It is what it is: a great action movie beyond logic and reason.

Want to watch a super high paced/ over the top movie then this is for you. The movie is full of fun ludicrous fights, movie references and is just pure fun to watch. Honestly a really underrated action movie in my opinion.

Shoot 'Em Up is a very stylish and fast paced action movie that is so much over the top, that it is funny again. The only scene I didn't like was when Smith jumped out of the airplane, because the SFX in this scene (and only in this scene) are rubbish.

Otherwise I can recommend this flick wholeheartedly if you're looking for a fun 90 minutes!

I absolutely loved _Crank_ but was positively bored by this movie. Neither is realistic but this movie veers much more heavily into being "wacky" like the protagonist shooting a carousel to make it spin and thus save the occupant from getting shot. The dialogue is almost entirely one-liners which miss more often than they land. The plot of _Crank_ was spelled out from the opening scene whereas it takes too long to figure out what the point of this movie is.

The movie knows that it is over the top, a tongue-in-cheek action extravaganza. And it is batshit hilarious.

I usually don’t write reviews straight after watching a film but seriously shoot em up is the perfect film to get some beers in and have a laugh with your mates, all of the actors are just having fun with this ridiculous premise and Clive Owen just steals the show as this Bad ass with great cheesy on liners.

If you like films like the Last Action Hero then this is up your alley as this film is definitely not supposed to be taken seriously and it pokes so much fun at the action genre that I can’t help but love it a bit. It ain’t a masterpiece but it ain’t trying to be, it’s trying to show you how ridiculous it can be while not taking itself seriously like the Fast and Furious films that will do the same stuff and expect you to take it seriously, Shoot Em Up is a good time with or without alcohol and also has a bad ass soundtrack :sweat_smile:
