Alexander Paynes Oscar winning "Sideways" is smart and funny, touching and honest.

Paul Giamatti has long been one of my favourite actors; his performance here is masterfully measured and controlled. Thomas Haden Church, Virginia Madson and Sandra Oh are all superb; Haden Church's finest.

The photography effortlessly transports you to wine country and Giamatti's Miles is your capable guide.

The sublime Golden Globe nominiated jazz score makes all the right moves.

Sideways is must see.

There are probably more than a hundred movies like this one every year. I really can't understand why it got to the 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die.

@eduardoaguiar I disagree, I've searched in the variety of male depressant films and wine films. There's a great halfway landmark that Sideways plants the flag for that, that really pushes and pulls both the genres together and I just haven't quite seen it done as good yet.

This is one of those films that I ask myself "what took me so long to see this?" because I am for watching this basicaly since it came out and I never did. Finally I saw it today and I loved it!

Sideways is emotinal, is funny, is sad, is a story about real life and real people. It's so well written with fantastic dialogues. Alexander Payne deserves all the credits for doing such an amazing job directing this engaging story that keeps you interested from the beginning until the end.

The performances are strong, Paul Giamatti, Thomas Haden Church, Virginia Madsen and Sandra Oh, all were great but Paul Giamatti is the one who steals the show.
Paul Giamatti is a fantastic actor, I always think he is great in every role he plays and once again he didn't let me down. Outstanding performance! He is such a natural actor than we almost or even forget that he is playing a character he is so good that we believe that he is the character. The chemistry between him and Thomas Haden Church is great.

I just wanna go drink wine, right now!!

Brilliant screenplay that contains multiple lines that I still quote regularly (“Are you chewing gum?”) mixed with a heartbreaking performance by Paul Giamatti. Depressed, broken, and lonely, he represents a particular kind of middle-aged sad sack that I can identify with. Payne’s cynicism feels tempered here, or at least it doesn’t bother me as much. Lovely performance by Virginia Madsen.
