I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – Jackie Chan is an incredible actor most of the time. I haven’t seen many of his roles that have disappointed me because he’s such a lovable and likable action star that he works well with everyone. Something was off when it came to Skiptrace, though. This didn’t have a lot going for it before it began, and it never really took off. Jackie has always been an impressive fighter that uses those items around him as his weapons, but his fighting in this film was subpar and far and few between. His chemistry with Knoxville was okay but distant. Finally, the story that should have been simple was incredibly hard to follow. Whoever was behind the scenes didn’t know how to edit together an action film. Because it takes more than scenes, it takes transitions – which this film seems to be lacking. It should also be noted that the comedy in this movie was bland as well…it seems everything that could have gone wrong, did.

The strangest thing that I find this film underestimated was Johnny Knoxville’s potential. Having been a part of Jackass for so long, we know he does his own stunts. Jackie Chan has been known for decades to do his own stunts, breaking hundred of bones throughout the years – so using Knoxville to their potential seemed like an obvious and smart choice…but as far as I could tell, Knoxville probably had stunt doubles, there were just too many shots cut away from him during critical moments.

I’ll put it as simply as I can. This movie felt as though Jackie Chan has had numerous film ideas in the past consisting of himself and an undecided American actor. He’s done most of them already, and so Skiptrace is basically the leftover ideas he has never gotten around to. There are a couple of interesting scenes while the rest of the movie is completely disposable. I hope this is the case, actually. Because if you could contribute this to Jackie Chan’s ripe age of 62, then there is no hope for the upcoming sequels Rush Hour 4 and Shangai Dawn. I continue to hold onto hope, though. Because he’s never served me wrong before. We’ll call this movie a fluke and wait for his next big hit!

haha, not even 10 minutes in, there's already a Wilhelm scream from one of the baddies. There are fight scenes that are a little reminiscent of older Jackie Chan films, ie. where he fights a (very hot) woman, it's short and not as affective, but the Russian doll thing was creative. On the nerdy side of things, it looks to be HTC phones they were using in this. The music soundtrack seemed underwhelming; you get to see Jackie Chan's character sing Adelle's "Rolling In The Deep" with the Mongols. It does have some nice cinematics and wide-angle camera shots as we see the country side and traditions of motherland China. I know underwater scenes are difficult to shoot, and that part reminded me a bit of _Titanic_ (1995), so I respect the crew for that part. Jackie Chan films are known to have blooper reels during the credits, and while there's not many good ones, there is one moment that involves Johnny Knoxville and poop. Overall, it's as if it wants to be a _Rush Hour_ 4, but not quite there. Maybe they were just trying to see what if he were to collaborate with this person or person. Personally, I'd like to see Jackie Chan with Jim Carrey (the two JC's).

I wouldn't go with the negative opinions towards this film, go with your own and with an open mind so lest give it a try if you're a fan of Jackie Chan's latest work like Police Storys, Rush Hours and Shangai's and it also had a mix of Jack Ass because of johnny's casting that i think makes a great double act for Jackie other than chris tucker, owen wison and we'll forget eddy in 'Spy' because that was a bad movie If you loved all them movies then this is all them movies on a wacky, jack ass, road trip across the beautiful views of hong kong with a twist.. To be honest i went into this film thinking it's going to be very cheesy but it proved me wrong, it was a fun heartwarming action packed comedy and i think Jackie still has it with his slapstick stunt kung fu comedy that i think only he does best. I'm glad they didn't just focus on his fighting, and brought him to life more in the very funny script along side a another funny and great actor Johnny Knox. I think he's a great actor and has come far also proud that he got an oscar for his work.. he deserves it.. just think he's broke most of his bones to do his films.. and he's real, and not fake.. now that's someone that doesn't give up on his goals so go into the film with that view.. I can't wait to see more of his upcoming work.. thank you again netflix for another good movie :P

**A con and a cop team up against a notorious crime gang.**

This has been done in Hollywood a decade ago, which is now considered as outdated, but Hong Kong and Chinese are doing it now. What I meant was Jackie Chan teaming up with an American star. Though all those films are almost same, like running and chasing and stunts with the comedic sense. Yep, totally boring, nothing new it it, except different locations and the cast. The Russians addition was new, but in the end it became a joke. That's funny to say, because it is a comedy film.

If you are familiar with Jackie Chan's Hollywood films, then you already know the 90 per cent of this film and for the rest, you have to watch it. A cop from Hong Kong seeking a revenge for his partner's death, so now he has to find and rescue the American con man who stuck with the Russias gangster for the evidence he needed to put the criminal gang boss behind the bar. The adventurous journey they take across the Mongolia is what the film is based on.

This film is specially made for the yuan market, so don't bother if you don't carry yuan in your wallet. Maybe Renny Harlin's worst film I've ever seen. Jackie Chan is the only reason to watch it, but surely you have seen better films of his than this. Johnny Knoxville was just okay and the rest of the cast does not look good. Rewatching 'Shanghai Noon' and 'Rush Hours' films is better than this, so I'm not in favour of it.
