This is not nearly as bad as I thought if would be. _Slap Shot 2_ was so awful I nearly gouged my eyes out but this was a nice rebound. Unfortunately, if you are tuning in thinking you will be seeing anything like the original 1977, you WILL be disappointed. They meagerly attempt to tie the two together by using the 50 year old Hanson brothers and quite a few lines word for word. Our story here is much more _Mighty Ducks_ than _Slap Shot_, as evidenced by the PG rating. The hockey scenes aren't filmed as well as _Miracle_ but they are fine. Strange scene where Doug Gilmour just walks out on the team after they suffer their first loss but Mark Messier shows up to give the inspirational speech that saves the hockey world. The other disturbing part is our hero Riley resorts to such dirty tactics but when his forgery scam is exposed he doesn't step up and show accountability, letting Alex be falsely accused of a felony.
