The good toys can be pretty corny. Other than that the movie is entertaining. Especially since it has a Gremlins feel to it. Due to Joe Dante. Small Soldiers was also Phil Hartman’s last film unfortunately.

Lots of fun, as usual for Dante. It's a great kids movie, that they're still sure to love. Surprisingly the effects even hold up, even though the movie is really a product of its time.

The neighbor is going to be PISSED if this were IRL, because messing with the tree WILL cost him massively. Most states have arborist protection laws and cutting down a tree on someone else's property can run up to three times the cost of the tree. Think in the area of a few 10's of thousands of dollars, PLUS having to pay for the cost of a replacement tree. Other than that IRL thing, this movie is very enjoyable and corny as heck.

I was obsessed with this movie as a kid, I used to watch it on repeat. I remember relating to it sinse I have the same name as the main character which was a rarity (and still is) for me. I was afraid of rewatching it now because I wasn't sure if i'd still like it as an adult.

Now I won't lie, this definitely is a silly movie but it is still quite a fun watch if you ask me. From a certain point of view it can be seen as a clever movie too. I don't know for sure if it was intentional but I really love the way the movie's self aware satirical humor pokes fun at More
