I caught this on tv a few hours ago while I was making dinner. I had never heard of it before but the mysterious opening scene captivated me and made me wanna know more.

This tells the story about the mysterious murder of a six-year-old boy and nothing about it makes sense. This little boy had a friendship with one of his neighbors, a Greenlander called Smilla Jasperson. She starts to investigate the murder and begins to find some intriguing clues that lead her into a secret corporation.

Some performances are very strong specially Julia Ormond's who plays Smilla. Gabriel Byrne wasn't consistant, sometimes he can be very mysterious but other times it looks like he is lifeless. The supporting roles were good.

The cinematography is beautiful! Denmark and Greenland looks amazing! The first half of the film is great! The pacing and the atmosphere are perfect, the tension gradually increases and it gets more intriguing as the story continues to develop but the second half unfortunately is disappointing. I didn't understand how some things happened, they were never explained.

At the beginning Smilla's Sense of Snow seems to be a fantastic film but throughout the story turns out to be nothing that you where expecting. It had everything to be a great film.
