Sophie and Vincent’s small butcher shop is on the brink of bankruptcy and their marriage is falling apart. Their lives are turned upside down when Vincent accidentally kills a vegan activist who vandalized their shop. Overwhelmed and terrified of being accused of murder, their only solution is to get rid of the body by turning it into ham. To their surprise the ham is so popular that it may save their business… that is if they’re ready to keep “hunting"!

An incredibly charming and hilarious piece of dark comedy that manages to mash up romantic comedy with violent thrills while also providing a fun satire. Despite its vegan-hunting premise, this film is essentially a drama about a crumbling marriage. The drama and the characters are always endearing, with a fair balance between gag and violence & gore that makes for a morbidly entertaining experience. The chemistry between the two lead actors works wonderfully. While it can get a bit repetitive in its humor, it nevertheless allows you to have a good time as long as its morbid, provocative sense of humor is your kind of humor.

[Sitges FF] A dark comedy that works beyond its proposal, establishing lines of reflection that connect deep down with certain current concerns, such as personal relationships or the hypocrisy of rules that prohibit and allow the same. This cynical gaze works better in this kind of version of "Sweeney Todd" (2007) that takes its characters to the limit of their human condition that hides, however, a predator status.

Like getting tickled: it's not the first time or the last, but every once in a while you laugh. The idea of butchers serving cadavers is nothing new (I just started K-Shop on my local horror service, where instead of a butcher the killer runs a kebab / doner place), but the victim type here is original and Marina Foïs is the garlic of French cinema: she makes everything she's in better.

Extremely funny. The base idea - butchers hunting vegans as a new form of prime meat - is already good, but it is also perfectly handled, with the right amount of reluctance, awkwardness, the perfect switch to really start it, the doubts; etc.
