Beautiful and romantic movie. My favorite of this kind. Reeves and Seymour were great. And the music, outstanding!

When this came out I was just turning 25 and I thought this was the greatest love story. I'm sure I watched and rewatched it after it came out in VHS (that's how we watched things before DVDs or streaming) probably renting it repeatedly from Blockbuster. I just ran across it tonight, decided to revisit it and now I'm left shaking my head. This is not the great movie I remember. It has not changed but I must have. Now I find it very slow, with rather a lame approach to time travel and full of logistical holes. But, Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour are still beautiful together. Christopher Plummer is regal. The location is gorgeous. The approach to cinematography is sweeping, idealistic and seeking to frame beauty. The music is transcendent. For nostalgia's sake I have to give this film an 8 (worthy of many watches) out of 10, to honour the 25 year old me, but the older, more seasoned media consumer has to admit it is probably a 4 (poor) to 6 (fair) by today's standards. Sadly, I will probably never revisit this film again. Hopefully, I haven't outgrown romance. [Fantasy, SciFi, Romantic Drama]

Not great. Went to Mackinac Island and this movie was hyped up because it was shot on the island. While it was cool to see the locations I'd been to in the film, the plot is nonsensical. The two hang out for two days, are "in love", and he gets sent back to his own time due to absurd time travel mechanics and gets depressed and dies. The dialogue also left much to be desired.

_One of the great movies of the 80s. Very good performances of the protagonists especially Christopher Reeve, the fashion Superman in those days. A beautiful romantic story very well born and an exquisite soundtrack. A mix of time travel and Victorian era story._

My Score 7/10.

- 2 for a completely meaningless ending. They forcefully made an unhappy ending to a quite enjoyable and cheerful film.

PS. If he moved in time once (without any difficulty) he could do it again!

On paper, **Somewhere in Time** is a corny soap opera. But the film somehow works, led by great performances by **Christopher Reeve**, **Jane Seymour**, and **Christopher Plummer** and lush score by **John Barry**. And the film just feels so authentic and genuine, despite preposterous time travel premise and over the top final scene.

Is it a masterpiece? Not at all. But it's easy to see why the film has become a cult favorite.
