I rented this movie because of Liv Tyler. I have seen all her movies and I liked every one of them ... Until now. "Space Station 76" is slow and profoundly **NOT** funny. I cannot imagine how she came to be in this movie or how she would let her name be associated with it. If you are thinking of renting this movie or god forbid buying it, I would suggest that you spend your money on beer or cigarettes. Your money would be better spent.

As a serious film, this is a flop. Like something a recent film school graduate would make on their own, using models from the local hobby shop, and filmed in their parent's basement, funded by weekend garage sales.

As a tongue in cheek parody film of bad 70's Would Be Star Wars rip-off, it is hilarious. There are moments when I have to stop and wonder how the actors kept a straight face. [spoiler] The drinking wine while breast feeding cracked me up so much, I had to pause the film and catch my breathe. The Super Betamax tapes had me flashing back to when Dad would bring home a recorder unit from work, to work and it and have it "quality tested" by the roughest of viewers - two pre-teen boys. The 3-D teleconference, with the RGB image reminded me of the old projection Wide Screen tvs so many of my friends fathers bought in 1979, for their game room. And the little girl and her curse of dying pets - and the Mom's complete lack of compassion about it - yeah, I knew mothers like that. Finally, the fake looking stunt stand in for the daughter and the MiL's suspended animation pod - LMAO!!! [/spoiler]

I see a lot of low raitings for this - and I have to give it a 6 myself, just because some of it seemed to just be as exciting as the art work on the walls of the hallways.
