In a godforsaken bar in the middle of nowhere, an all-girl band – Ms. 45 – rips the stage apart with their punk spirit. But their performance impresses an enthusiastic fan who lures the girls into a trap, sedates them, and starts…customizing them. Slowly they begin to gain consciousness and, in total shock, realize their arms have all been replaced with axes and chainsaws to fight gladiator-style in a junkyard arena owned by a sadistic "emperor," forcing them into the battle of their lives with one prize in mind – their freedom.

Like street meat: cheap, dirty and bad for you but really tasty. Reminds me of the George Lucas quote, "It’s not a matter of how well can you make a movie, it’s how well can you make it under the circumstances..." Spare Parts is a good movie under the circumstances because it succeeds in being what it sets out to be within the means it was given.

It's always hard to know who these movies are made for. If you like low budget gore, attractive women in skimpy leather, a brain dead plot, set in a possibly post-dystopian world with a punk sound track, then this could be what you are looking for. Otherwise, it probably isn't.

An all-female punk band, Ms. 45 play a gig at a biker bar and start a riot. Long story short, they end up having their limbs replaced by weapons and are forced to fight for their life. It's far from great but very entertaining so-bad-it's-good grindhouse film. Ridiculous plot, bad acting, killer weapons, dirty junkyard, all trashy goodness in one package. Love the vibrant purple and blue neon lights throughout. The fight sequences are fun but they clearly keep the deaths off screen most of the time and limit the gore parts due to budget constraints. There's also not enough character development. But it's pretty fun for what it is.

Based on the cover I was interested. Unfortunately the movie itself didn't deliver, mostly due to the subpar acting and worse, bad dialogue. I actually found myself detached while watching. At the very least some of the gore effects and kills were okay. **2.25/5**
