Take a generic big city (capitals are great), mix the DNA of any animal with something extraterrestrial, add a passionate scientiest, an arrogant soldier and a nice little innocent family who has to stop this catastrophe. Everything about this movie is just so incredibly generic and interchangeable. The whole story, if you want to call it a story, has been told endless times in all ways possible and this movie has really nothing to add. Nothing original, nothing new. What is the purpose of giant spiders going on a rampage, killing people? Spiders arrive, spiders kill, spiders are defeated, spiders are gone. And the effects...well, they are bad. The spiders all look and move like they were animated for some lame computer game. Especially the spider queen looks so disproportionate and rather funny. You want spiders: I suggest some classics like Arachnophia or Eight Legged Freaks. No spiders, but alien invasion? Watch Critters. Just aliens? Watch Alien.
