Wow. Just wow.

This is one of those movies that takes you on a ride from start to finish.

Joe Keery really shows his acting chops as he plays a rideshare driver, with cameras strapped all over his car doing everything he can for internet fame. From start to finish, he delivers an excellent, intimate performance.

The movie really gets amped up the more it goes and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. There's a great comedic pace to it as well, that really carries the movie forward.

Overall I'd highly recommend it as an amazing satirical dark comedy.

Aggressively insufferable, but then again I guess that’s maybe the point? Spree shows it’s hand very early in the first act, but never really goes beyond this core idea for the whole runtime. Gratingly cringey, but there are some well set scenes here if you can stomach the double fakery of pretend livestream and YouTube fame. A miss for me.

It's Taxi Driver for the Uber/ # generation. Doesn't hold up all the way to the end, but for the most part, it's a well-made and frighteningly realistic look at social media/live streaming obsession. _Spree_ is one of the most brutally cynical movies I have ever seen, from its premise to its final act. If Eugene Kotlyarenko's movie has one weakness that stands above all others, its that the film simply reproduces the bleak social environment we find ourselves in without commentary. Likewise, the movie gets a little too cute as it comes to a close. You'll see what I mean. Even with these caveats, you should like and subscribe to _Spree_.

Like riding in an Uber, they try to make the ride unique but it ends being the same unique as other rides. At least it gets you where you're going, and not without a little style.

Some big names come together on a story that sounds great (a comedy horror flick about an Uber driver who wants to become an influencer by murdering his passengers) but ends up at the same place as other comedy horror focus.

Still, at least it's found footage

I didn't think I was going to like this movie as much as I did. It worked much better as a night in the life of a serial killer then as the social media satire it aspired to be.

[Sitges FF] Social networks. Influencers. Selfies of selfies. The culture of "likes" carried to the extreme gore. It pretends to be corrosive, dark and biting, but it fails to sustain a story that has an interesting approach but does not stand on a flimsy structure. When the story fails to advance, then gore and fest of blood enter. Which is fine for a dark comedy, but not as an easy way out of a dearth of ideas.

dull as fuck.

the first deaths should have been single shot , instead they cut to different cameras and ruin it. the music just doesn't work with what's happening ,when it's supposed to be tense.
the supposed awkward character is just annoying, they try to do funny looks to camera, - wrong actor for the job.

they couldn't get any kind of comedian to play or just write for the comedian?
no blood where there should be. ppl trapped in roof stop yelling. bullet is shot through windshield with no bullet hole!
Out of all the movies you could've ripped off, why did it have to be 2018 'Rideshare'.

For those who don't know about 'Rideshare', here's a link on Letterboxd of the synopsis and further info on the movie: letterboxd.com/film/rideshare-2018/

I was taken back when certain scenes felt awfully familiar, especially with some of the dialogue. It wasn't written or directed by the same team of 'Rideshare'. Or if the people behind 'Spree' saw the movie and wanted to do the concept more justice. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not.

Anywhere, 'Spree' was terrible, not in an ironic or funny way, just terrible. The whole movie is basically "Oh lOOk, hE cRaZy, mUrderING pEoplE wHilE hE LIVE sTreaming it, bUt he's SO CausAl about iT". The level of sarcasm behind this got annoying quick.

I struggle to find any point of this movie existing. Any type of social commentary this movie has to offer felt really surface level.

I felt like the pacing was a little all over the place. Started out and stayed really slow for a while, towards the end sped up, for a bit it got really fast and then it was right back to slow again before I reached the credits.
