As a kid, this was easily my favorite. I also loved video games, so it felt special to me. As an adult, this is easily the worst of the original trilogy. It’s got some big set pieces, but the effects are awful most of the time. The plot has the most messiness. But it’s still a highly enjoyable time, absurd levels of cheesiness and all. If you like the first two, check this out. But surely, don’t watch this one first!

Rating: 2.5/5 - 7/10 - Worth Watching

The best of the series, Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over is an entertaining adventure into cyberspace. When Carmen Cortez gets trapped in a virtual reality game by a nefarious villain known as the Toymaker, her brother Juni goes into the game in an attempt to rescue her and shut it down. Surprisingly, Daryl Sabara (who’s been one of the weaker actors of the series) really steps up and does a fairly decent job at carrying the film. And, Sylvester Stallone is especially good; playing multiple characters and pulling off the comedy remarkably well. The special effects however, are really cheesy, but kind of work given that the game takes place in a virtual environment. Still, a lot of the 3D comes off as hokey. But despite its problems, Sky Kids 3-D: Game Over is a fun romp that delivers plenty of laughs.

A trainwreck of a movie, it's not good on any level, but it's impossible to look away. The effects, charming before, are more intrusive and awful than ever. The spy sendup is lost for a half hearted noir homage in the first third and the awkward gamification of the rest of the film, with things like Atari to Halo getting heavy handed name drops. Juni gets far too much attention as Cameron takes a backseat and the parents are almost absent. The movie is a cash grab, trying to cash in on games and 3D alike, and failing so miserably at both it's hilarious.

Perhaps the most damning thing about the movie is that almost nobody feels like they're having fun anymore. The film reeks of opportunism and obligation. The only exceptions are Stallone, hamming it up Mike Myers multiple personas style, and Ricardo Montalban. Ricardo gives this film far more effort and heart than it deserves, and the two give sparks of what the movie could've been.

Still, it's a fun watch for all the wrong reasons. To family.

When I was a kid i used to watch this movie non stop to a point where I started to get fed up everytime it was on tv.. Watching it now I can sure tell it didn't age well, the 3D effects were to wacky and the plot had some issues.

But it had a lot of celebrity casting such as selena gomez, George Clooney and Sylvester stallone and also is a little bit of a nostalgia trip for me.. so my final vote is 4 out of 10
