Easily one of the best Star Trek movies. This is how you do it. Too bad the two Next Generation films after are no where near as good. The reboot films are good but this is better than them too.

Quite possibly the best of all the Star Trek films. First Contact has the perfect balance of action & drama without overindulging on either. A touch of humor at the right moments adds to the fun without trying too hard to be comedic (like Star Trek V).

Certainly this is the best film featuring the Next Generation cast, but I don't think it's better than The Wrath of Khan. The Borg as an enemy gradually reduced in menace over the course of the later series of ST:NG and this film marks another step downwards. By-the-by, they were further & fatally undermined in ST:VOY. Still, their look has been greatly improved. Back to First Contact. Time travel in Trek has, by this point, come a long way since ST:TOS and warp-speed solar sling-shots. But as a plot device, it still has a place, despite the associated techno-babble. Patrick Stewart portrays Picard as a more complete & developed character than in the TV series. The film flows smoothly, looks good and doesn't have too many plot-holes.

The best of the Next Generation films, this picks up story threads from some of the strongest episodes of the TV show without alienating the audience who haven't seen the show. The Borg have always been great villains and here they are given a face in the shape of Alice Krige, who is easily the best antagonist in the film series since Khan. After a rousing and impressive battle at the beginning of the film, the relentless and creepy nature of the Borg is played to great effect in the dark corridors of the Enterprise and on its hull. Splitting the crew into two separate plots helps to give all the crew something to do, but whilst the B plot on the planet's surface explores an interesting moment in Trek lore, ultimately it's the battle with the Borg that captures the attention. The film also has a great score from Jerry Goldsmith.

Interesting fact I hadn´t thought of before. Like the first TOS movie I didn´t liked the first TNG movie very much. In both cases the second one was more action oriented and in both scripts they brought back the arch-enemy of the respective captain. Here they raised up the ante by threatening the More

[7.7/10] I’m not sure there’s a *Star Trek* movie that is as simultaneously funny, scary, and dramatic as *First Contact*. Sure, *The Voyage Home* probably has better laughs. *The Wrath of Khan* can outdo this one in drama. And there’s plenty of other films in the franchise with a few good sca More

Really solid and suspense-filled Star Trek film. Seen this one once before and still holds up along with the visual effects which were decent for its time. This is also the first complete TNG feature and unlike Generations, did feel like a movie rather than two-part episode. 4.0/5

Good watch, could watch again, and can recommend (at least for dedicated "Star Trek" fans).

My favorites aspects of all of "Star Trek" are The Borg, and the artificial entities like Data. This movie potentially ruins both of them, depending on who you ask. Also, time travel is the worst.
