Best Star Trek movie. Seeing it after horrible First Contact felt like a blessing.

Let's hope that TNG is better than TOS. I only watched "Encounter at Farpoint" and yeah it's good so far.

Seems like Hollywood was evolving in the late 90s. This one is faaar more actiony, especially in the second half
(Worf with a 24th century Bazooka, I mean WTF!!)
. But what can I say.. I like it, a lot.
The crew acting as rebels to defend their belief – I wouldn't have expected this. They ignored commands in the past too, but this is a few stages above what we were used to.
I liked the eighth movie the most until now but this one is also superb, in its own way.

In terms of Star Trek formula this is the best movie for actual Star Trek fans. In my opinion if anyone tells you they are a fan of Star Trek and/or is some kind of Trakt "VIP" member, then they really dont know Star Trek. These people use the usual "this feels like a drawn out episode more than anything" or "the stakes are minimal". Im soooooooooo sorry peoples lives and their rights are so low stakes compared to explosions killing people aka Hollywood action flick.

A solid if not spectacular entry into the series, this has all the hallmarks of an extended TV episode of the show on a larger budget. The problem is that most of the themes and ideas covered in the film are similar if not the same to those covered by the show several times and there are some aspects of the plot that are a little too contrived. There is some fun to be had from watching the crew deal with the effects of the planet they are on and the exterior location and sets are stunning and a welcome change. The action sequences are noticeable for a bigger scope and budget than before and this all makes for an enjoyable enough experience, if lacking in anything new to the series.

A good story, great FX and no embarrassing dialogs. If that annoyed you in the 80s star trek movies, this one is for you...

Despite the fact that this has some rather embarrassing scenes (Data floating, manual control column f.e.) this is my personal favorite TNG movie. The story, or should I say the underlying message, is absolutely Star Trek. The scenery looks amazing, sets too. I think it could have benefitted from more running time to get a little bit more out of it.

As the last two "Star Trek" movies, this is a good and entertaining watch.

Definitely dated. Despite the action, the story is a bit slow paced and it felt like a remake of an episode from TNG but still worth the watch. I'd say 6/10 for the actors chemistry and brilliant comedic timing.

Nowhere near as thrilling as First Contact or as interesting.
This installment has not aged well and it was all just to softy soft.
It wasn't that interesting and nothing I haven't seen in a good TNG episode.
I expect to see something I haven't see before in a feature length movie to a television show and with this I just didn't get that, it was all
very safe and by the numbers.
The Crew we're as awesome as ever
and as always the humour had me
Laughing, everything else seem to drag on and
1H 43M felt like an
Eternity.

I thought the Alternate
Ending was pretty cool.
But with age this movie just doesn't have
that punch for me anymore.

(Thank God
The next one does
Which just so
Happens to be
My Favourite.)

(I will say this though,
This movie is a God damn
Masterpiece compared
To Star Trek Crapard
Now that piss-poor
Cluster Fcuk is
Unwatchable and a
Complete Shit-Show
That never should
Have been made,
Total Garbage
and utter Nonsense).
I'm dreading the
3rd and final season
Next year.

I guess to 1998 standard, it's a good watch; but watching this in 2021 and while watching DS9/Voyager in chronological order, other than the VFX and the cast, there's nothing to it.
