Natural sound throughout the movie, no music or voice-out, and the photography is restrained like a documentary (except for a close-up shot on the face that I didn't understand at the end of the film), but the feeling of suffocation and sadness are everywhere. The actors performed so well and the dialogue was so good (I even doubt whether it was a script or an on-the-spot performance). This should be the last movie I watched this year. It was a surprise.

[GoodMove] Closing her hitherto trilogy on women in Chinese society, this latest film offers a more complete portrait that addresses issues such as motherhood or job opportunities, in an environment where the specter of birth control prevails. The slow pace, punctuated by still camera and balanced framing, is surrounded by a seemingly naturalistic sound design that nonetheless reflects modern but constantly noisy China. The doubtfully legal entrepreneurship promoted by social networks shows the social imbalances for young people who now reject motherhood to meet the objectives of a future as imposed as it was before.
