Straight Outta Compton

2h 27m
Drama, Music, History
In 1987, five young men, using brutally honest rhymes and hardcore beats, put their frustration and anger about life in the most dangerous place in America into the most powerful weapon they had: their music. Taking us back to where it all began, Straight Outta Compton tells the true story of how these cultural rebels—armed only with their lyrics, swagger, bravado and raw talent—stood up to the authorities that meant to keep them down and formed the world’s most dangerous group, N.W.A. And as they spoke the truth that no one had before and exposed life in the hood, their voice ignited a social revolution that is still reverberating today.

Good Movie...really good movie...about something I don't really care all that much about. I'm a metalhead, and most metalheads barely recognize Rap as a music form. I'm not that hardcore and recognize rappers for what they are. Today's street poets. I have heard of N.W.A., and of course Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, but not much more than that. Never really listened to any of the songs etc., but in the course of watching this movie I started to care a little more about the people and where they were coming from. I still don't like Rap mind you...but I can recommend this movie to anyone with an interest in music history.

A very fun and faithful biopic. The performances were good all around Jason Mitchell as Eazy-E definitely stole the show. I enjoyed the movie but I wish they had spent less time glorifying their protagonists and more time focusing on the social issues such as issues with the police. As it was it had a few powerful scenes showcasing police brutality, but I feel it should have focused on that more. As it was it felt like a nice biopic, but it could have been more powerful if they spent less time showing parties and more time showing issues. Overall it's fun and well acted, I enjoyed it.

Positively surprised! I can't vouch for the historical accuracy but it was a great as a film - nice shots, the right amount of humour, drama and action. The way they put in the music was brilliant and I liked the private story mixed with the political - because rap is political.

Quality film.

I thoroughly enjoyed 'Straight Outta Compton', it had me gripped all the way through. That's despite me having little to no knowledge of N.W.A, I knew of their name and of Ice Cube and Dr. Dre but basically zilch about their actual story. I couldn't comment on how true it i More

Gangster rap is pretty far removed from my wheelhouse, and I've never followed N.W.A. closely enough to know if this biopic an accurate depiction of their career, but; a good movie is a good movie is a good movie. And _Straight Outta Compton_ undeniably is that.

_Final rating:★★★ - I person More

**The rise of the Rap music!**

There were lots of debate over this film's snub from the Oscars, but I'm not here to talk about that. As a film, it was awesome and as a biographical film, even more awesome, but not an inspiring film that I was expecting. There were many bad things in it, like the More
