Hilarious. It's funny how much of this still holds up. The end does drag on a little tough. I still think it should have ended at the graduation ceremony...

“There’s something wrong with us, something very, very wrong with us.” Stripes is a classic Bill Murray film that showcases his irreverent humor and brilliant comedic talent. Directed by Ivan Reitman, this ‘80s screwball comedy follows a group of misfits that must come together as a unit in order to pass basic training. In addition to Murray, the film has a great supporting cast that includes Harold Ramis, John Candy, John Larroquette, and Judge Reinhold. However, the film’s ‘80s R-rated comedy style is a little problematic with its gratuity and sexcapades that seem forced into the story. Yet despite a few weaknesses, Stripes holds up as a fun and entertaining romp.

I can't think about this movie without remembering a great joke I heard: "Bill Murray has been in so many great movies, like Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Groundhog's Day, the first half of Stripes..."

An average film, with funny moments and others not so much. Unfortunately, the story doesn't spark much interest throughout the film. The characters seem generic, probably to make criticisms about the type of people who join the army, but they could have been developed in a more interesting way.

This movie is so dumb it's actually fun. Bill Murray being himself is a joy to watch, as expected. I wasn't aware he was in movie together with Harold Ramis before _Ghostbusters_, that was a pleasant surprise, for me. Great chemistry between the two, right there and then.
Overall, there's a strong _Police Academy_ vibe, three years before _Police Academy_ was even a thing.
But the best part of _Stripes_ is that you can clearly see how much fun they were all having throughout the whole movie. And that's contagious to the viewer.
A fun — and occasionally cheesy — brainless entertainment experience.

There's a few funny moments but this is nothing memorable.

The action-packed third act gets kind of boring but it's very funny before they go overseas.

Like this for the hilarious Bill Murray and the smirking smarty pants performance of Harold Ramis. Love it for the real hero Sgt. Hulka played by none other than the awesome Warren Oates. As an added bonus you get John Candy and the smoky goodness of P.J. Soles.

This movie is yet another winning comedy from the 80's. Is this Bill Murray's best comedy? I don't think so. "Caddyshack" is his best but his turn here as loveable but lazy John Winger is a classic. The guy's a born leader. He leads a dysfunctional crew of boot camp rejects on an unintentional rescue mission and while it's pretty corny in spots it's always funny.
