While not about the killer David Berkowitz, or the hunt to catch him, this tells the tale of the city and its inhabitants; their fear, paranoia and vigilantism.

Much like Do The Right Thing, Summer of San is a smothering film building to a boiling point. But it knows its communities less than DRRT, and it’s not as deft. From the punk scene to gays, Lee bites off a bit more than he can chew. In a surprising if delightful misstep, there’s a talking dog. Voiced by John Turturo. It’s far from a bad film, with a stellar cast and a scathing look at masculinity. But 25th Hour does that better too, leaving Summer of Sam as an odd middle child.

“Kill. Kill. Kill” - the Dog Such a great young cast. Brody, Sorvino and Leguizamo are so good. Really wish Mr. Lee could have created the movie he wanted. :dog2: :footprints::mega:

Summer of Sam is directed by Spike Lee and Lee co-writes the screenplay with Victor Colicchio and Michael Imperioli. It stars John Leguizamo, Adrien Brody, Mira Sorvino, Jennifer Esposito, Mich More
