[IFFR] Adaptation of the play by Marguerite Duras that does not avoid the shortage of settings and characters. There is a mystery in the main character that Charlotte Gainsbourg conveys effectively, but the director fails to extract from the text meanings that go beyond the words of this lover-wife who doubts whether or not to escape with her young lover. A certain timelessness is introduced into the film that undermines the meaning of a text that speaks of women in a period of transformation.

Like overhearing two people on a park bench nonchalantly talking about their extramarital affairs and you're even more bored than they are.

This film collects the absolute worst of all French film clichés, from the ridiculously pretentious dialog, to the absence of a beginning / middle / end and including cigarette smoking, black and white film that turns to color, and cheating on your spouse...

This is a movie about people who don't say "Get the fuck out" enough, and it shows.
