I really can´t understand why so many people fail to understand the ending scene...

it was a fantastic film. A little bit like Melancholia in some ways. I would love to have seen an alternative ending whereby when Curtis opens the Shelter doors. All you see is destruction proving he is not mad. THE END.. I just think the build up to him opening the doors would have been more satisfying. I have great respect for Michael Shannon, he was fantastic in Revolutionary road. I have also been following the career of Jessica Chastain since Jolene...and i can see a few oscars for these two in the future.

I started it on Netflix because I didn't know what to watch and... I'm surprised.
This film is fantastic. I am speechless.

I love this movie! Love the small town, simple living vibe. The acting and story are both great.

Criminally boring and not artsy at all. People try to make it more than it actually is, a half baked idea that stayed an idea. No immersion, no artistry just a constant "I know sth you don't" from the writer. Poor attempt. RATE 5/10

Absolutely amazing! I have been kinda in anxiety mode for the last couple of days, and this movie gave me the rest. But in a good way! Right from the beginning, there was something dark and strange to feel until the very last second. It grabbed me and slowly dragged me down with it. But there is also so much wholesomeness within the family that I felt this could only go right. I felt with Curtis and wanted everything to stop, too, because this slowly ride into some kind of madness didn't just drain him. Combined with the overall atmospheric tone and subtle use of music, this movie just mesmerized me. Everyone is doing a fantastic job bringing everything into perspective, and I needed some time to actually calm down a little. Even though I don't really know what to do with the ending, I loved this movie and had a stressful yet wonderful time watching it.

Man, this was good. Michael Shannon hardly plays a good guy these days so it was refreshing for him to show off his acting chops as the lead. Not knowing if something is just anxiety or mental illness kept me invested the whole time and I really enjoyed that ending. Definitely recommend this!

I do love slow-paced thriller films and this is exactly that. Having said that, there is something that makes me uneasy about the ending. It is up to so many interpretations that the writer / director of the film didn’t know himself how to end otherwise a close-to-brilliant story with a decent acting.

Would I watch it again? Possibly. Would I make my friends watch it? I guess so.

Michael Shannon's acting is amazing (as always).
I love the atmosphere of the movie and how intense it is.

Very predictable formula at a snails pace. Crazy thing happening.... wake up its a dream. Repeat!
Slow breakdown of a man and relationships, introduce doubt of sanity and what's real. Questionable ending. End
I Fell asleep half way into this and had to continue when I woke up. Maybe all the dreaming rubbed off. The acting was good though.

Michael Shannon is always a win.

Great Film ;) Well worth watching

Bored and Slow.

Ending is predictable. I get the art of is he is mother's son and is sick or is he bit by the I can see the future bug, but no evidence to explain why him. Overall watch it once then leave it behind.

A really good character driven version of the Abrahamic story. Sort of a more interior version of on of my favorite movies Frailty. The movie had great tension from the start. While it did a good job of showing us a character who questions his own sanity it did a less good job of showing us a world that questions his sanity which gets somewhat implied but never really shown.

I feel like the ending was good but could have been strong. I don't mind an open ending and this one was somewhat open but I feel like it could have been a bit stronger.

I had not heard of this movie until last week and that is quite disappointing! It was easily the best Shannon role of his career, which means it is not talked about nearly enough! It is a pretty unique take on mental illness that I am sure many will appreciate. In a bit of comedy, one of my most used gifs is the "There is a storm coming" gif and I had no idea where it came from!
