Terrible pacing, feels a hundred years long I had to put it at high speed in some places. Pretty gory but in a silly way really, it's not shot or acted like it's supposed to be taken too seriously. "Story" doesn't make any sense, obviously.

At this point "Dread Central presents" is code for really bad flicks for me (excluding international imports)... Yes, the creepy mute clown idea isn't bad (and would fit in with other iconic horror characters) but somehow this ended up way worse than the already weak anthology he spawned from. The script is absolute garbage. Nothing is made off the "Halloween" setting and you can really tell that they had no idea how to get to 90 minutes because not only is it full of dumb clichés but they also bring in characters when they need a quick kill. I was bored out of my mind before the the mid point and I can only stomach so many "UHHHH, I STABBED HIM ONCE, LEFT MY WEAPON THERE AND NOW I'LL CERTAINLY RUN TO SAFETY AND HE WILL TOTALLY NOT COME BACK" moments
> lmao at the terrible wooden plank scene
. There's a surprisingly gory kill in there but the rest cannot even shine there due to editing/FX.

I usually enjoy slasher films with a lot of blood and gore. But the way "Terrifier" does it isn't really my cup of tea. There's no sense of fun here; the movie is vicious and disgusting to the max. I do not blame the film at all for being an ultra-low-budget production. To a certain extent, it's understandable that it looks amateurish in places. Nevertheless, the weak performances, underdeveloped characters, ugly look, and questionable dialogue bothered me quite a bit. A reasonably coherent story is also missing. On the other hand, director Damien Leone sticks to his ultra-hard and uncompromising approach. That's something I can appreciate, especially since the makeup effects are impressive. "Terrifier" is definitely not for me, but I can at least partially understand the cult status.

Would have rated it higher, but the movie breaks one of the sacred unwritten rules of slaher genre: antagonist must never use a gun

**Terrifier** is terrifying! David Howard Thornton as Art the Clown truly is terrifying, we witness the rise of a great antagonist on the path of becoming a horror icon. He's unpredictable, demented and charismatic in a twisted way. His makeup and costume looks better. The gore, the kills and the violence is extreme, off-putting and gratuitous. Despite it's low budget it still manages to do some amazing looking practical effects. My favorite moment was when he
tried on that skin
, that was so weird and creepy! Also the selfie, hilarious.

Apart from Art the Clown who was solid the acting was bad all around. The story is non-existent it's Art being creepy and going around killing people, that's it. With a better script and story this could of been something really special. I hope *Terrifier 2* gives Art a better story because he deserves it.

I'm not a gory horror fan, I prefer the creepy suspense type, so this was perhaps a bad choice but in my defense I knew nothing about the film going in. The clown was enjoyably creepy but the relentlessly gory violence, which often went on too long, kinda undermined it. As others have said, the acting is a bit of a mixed bag, not that the genre is a stranger to bad acting...

Re: the choice of closing scene, I personally would have ended it on the clown coming back to life (as cliched as that would be), since the the girl turning around with no face was hardly an "OMG NO WAY" cliffhanger as the film opened with her murderous interview appointment so we knew what her face looked like. They also never explained either any of Art's backstory or why the girl killed her interviewer at the start, unless his evilness is meant to somehow be contagious.

The clown killer was suitably creepy and demented but that's pretty much all I'd recommend about this film.

Despite loving all things horror, I somehow never got around to checking this one out. I am admittedly ashamed it took me so long. Horror is not known for big budgets or great acting. This is far and away from either. But this is prime grade B horror. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, it’s gory (with not great effects), and it’s almost funny opposed to scary - or Terrifying if you will. When you hear of movies being “so bad, it’s good”, this is the cream of the crop. It’s worth watching for all horror fans, just don’t expect a masterpiece.

Rating: 3/5 - 7.5/10 - Worth Watching

Things to note before watching:
- It doesn't take itself to seriously
- It's gory
- It's somewhat self aware that it's crap
- Don't take it too seriously
- It's a good film if you're not invested in watching it.

I was told it was not the greatest film, nor was it trying to be, and by having this prefaced to me, I enjoyed it within the context of what it is; shit and fun.

Awesome new slasher flick. Lots of gore, some characters you actually like, and a creepy-ass, effective killer. Even if they don't make any more of these movies, Art the Clown will go down as one of the classic slashers.

I think this movie isn't as bad as a lot of people stated. It's a good horror movie, with good old classic vibes (it is clearly inspired by Halloween and other similar classics). The killer was good, the rest of the cast too (not perfect but not even the worst), and there was suspense. Some gore here and there, and that's it.

I have seen waaaay worse movies...

I came in not expecting much.. but what an utter waste of time and an absolute trash flick. The acting was diabolical, and the scrip even worse.

How many times did someone stab, hit, and knock the killer clown on conscious only to run away as if he isn’t going to get back up.

There were no positives for me, the silent killer clown idea and sheer gore keeps it from being 1/10, I feel like I need a break from horror films after this trash.

Quick review; gets right to the point, really creepy clown, gore fest, not scary, bloody, shocking, B flick, and the clown has a personality. If that sounds interesting, you might enjoy the movie.

3 Thoughts After Watching ‘Terrifier’:

1. Art is a great horror villain. That bloody grin with those sunken eyes and creepy theatrics are the stuff of nightmares. He deserves a franchise and a bigger budget.

2. Yeah, the acting was cringy at times, but it totally lends to that B-movie homage. And, for what I imagine to be a fairly small budget, the practical effects were somewhat impressive.

3. I wouldn’t necessarily go around raving about this film as a must-see, but if a friend were to add this to their Halloween night watch list, I would encourage it.

What a waste of time. I actually thought there's a story here, or there could be a reason why it's rated as (at least) 6/10. It's barely even a 3 or 4. :sob: Definitely trash. I didn't enjoy even the gore, and I love gore!

Better than I expected, since I went into this expecting trash, but instead got an enjoyable slasher with a terrifying lead killer.

I mean, this clown at some point in the movie nukes a public bathroom with his shit.

Terrifier (Terrible). Where the good ratings came from is beyond me. This really is terrible. I scored it 4/10 as its not the worst horror flick out there. They had some good points, the clown, the death effects werent too bad, the scene. Could have been so much better and could really use some back story to explain why the clown can survive blowing his head off etc.
