It is the end of an era. Not only is "Terror of Mechagodzilla" the last Godzilla film of the 1970s before a break of almost ten years, it is also the last installment of the franchise directed by Ishirō Honda. And it is a reasonably conciliatory farewell, considering the quality of some of his previous Godzilla films. For the first time in a long while, this is a proper sequel to its immediate predecessor, which means that Mechagodzilla is also back in the mix. All in all, the result is solid kaiju action. Especially the pyrotechnicians do a great job this time. Nevertheless, a break and a new approach for the franchise were still urgently needed at this point.

I don't know what to say really. You can tell this was the end for Godzilla in the 70s.

Some good destruction scenes, but the plot is so forgettable because it has been done several times before in this franchise.

The whole tail whipping thing to create wind storms has been done already, they gave nothing to this new monster except a lazy set of moves, bad design, and a terrible cackle.

The rest, bland monster mash crap that we've seen for the past 10 years of films up to this point.

Glad it's over.

**5/10**
