The Accusation / Les Choses Humaines is the pathetic, shriveled penis an entitled white man flashes at you in a movie theater, hoping to get off on how abject he is.

I hated this movie and there are probably spoilers in this review and I hope there are because if I spoil this movie for you then I've done my job for the day.

The Accusation is a courtroom drama where the young rapist is the son of a rich and powerful media man who likes sleeping with his interns and thinks an agreement to meet him is a tacit plea for him to invite his depravity upon you.

The young son rapes a 17-year-old girl during a party and (not unlike The Last Duel) the director takes sick pleasure in forcing us to hear the man describe the rape, then the young woman recall the attack through her grief, and then, for those who haven't walked out yet, the director films all the steps leading up to the rape and makes us watch, like that old lecher who exposed his limp dick at the beginning of this review.

But the film doesn't stop at being offensive, it's also poorly made. The lead actor clearly got his role because his father is the director and his mother is the supporting actress, while the speeches that drop like bombs in the 3rd act are so ridiculous audience members laughed out loud and I literally writhed in my seat, waterboarded by the dialog.

The Accusation basically tries to convince us that there are two sides to every rape and when a well-connected white man rapes it makes shades of gray. But no. No, it doesn't.

Believe women. Believe women, no matter what this movie wants you to think. Believe women. No matter what doubts this movie tries to sow, believe women. No matter what this movie wants you to believe... Believe women instead.
