@lexirae26 It was a main theme of the novel. It's really surprising that the filmmakers chose not to even make mention of it in the film, especially w/out changing the title.

@lexirae26 Yes, it was mentioned....more than once. He was taking Adderall, a drug. The last one I recall is at the time 45:48 where he shows the g/f a handful of pills, she asks what they are, he tells her "Adderall, Klonopin, Vicodin". You seem to have missed the entire point of this movie. It is about how we remember things in our memory. We seem to have altered versions sometimes, where 1 person remembers it one way, and another remembers it a different way. The person who remembers it differently than the rest, seems to EDIT their memories for their own purpose. In this instance, he was editing his memories, by using them as inspiration for writing books to get paid. And his true story wasn't entertaining enough or he wanted to be portrayed differently, so he embellished his life story in his books. That is, until his father and brother called him out on it. Then, he grew as a person, admitted his errors, realized that nobody is a villain in every instance, sometimes we all can do bad things if the situation drives to that point. Good people can make bad choices and make mistakes. Hope that helps. This movie helped me understand memories better, too.
