Why do film studios have to spell stuff out for us , we are not idiots. The fact that we knew Adaline never aged from the start was a bad move. The studio should have kept us guessing...make the audience work. Why was Adaline on the Run?, Why did she have to keep changing identities?. The big reveal should have been when Adaline met Ellis' father. A great film but could have been so much better. As soon as this movie hits blu ray. I am going to make my own edit.

Blake Lively's performance was amazing from start to finish, the story and concept were enough to get me to watch it (regardless of the fact i love me some Blake). This movie will be a part of my collection as soon as its released on iTunes, 9/10.

Blake Lively was enchanting and beautiful. I haven't watched her Savages but in this she was classic. Though the story felt like I've read it somewhere. It's quite familiar.

Who wants to live forever?
This story gives a few reasons why.
Blake lively plays magnificently, with emotions and toughness where it needs to be.
Also credit to Harrison Ford, the interaction and reactions are just as they should be.
If you've never truly loved someone deeply, then you'll probably won't be emotionally influenced by this movie.
Try to look at the bigger picture, this is about living life.. Love and being never too old to learn what's really important!

And they lived happily ever after... Predictable from start to finish. Just a cheesy love story wrapped up and pretending to be something it's not. Of course normality resumes. There was no way this film was ever going to not have a happy ending. Was hoping for a lot more and it just never ever came.

Watchable if only for Blake Lively being charming as always. Also the guy playing young William absolutely nailing that Harrison Ford smile!
The narration was so soulless and odd it really took something away from the film. With this plot it I feel like they could have done so much more but in the end it was just another romance movie masquerading as an episode of the twilight zone.
I agree with what another commenter said, they could definitely have added some more mystery to it all.

Welp, all reviews here seem to be at opposite extremes - either "masterpiece", 9, 10.. or "wasted time".
It's neither, "not great, not terrible" someone would say - more like a 66-67% on votes here

I remember posters around the cinema I used to go to at the time of its release and I was interested by the premise, which turns out to be trivialized by the generic love story
and Adaline understanding the usual stuff one understands when plagued/gifted by immortality, as much as the "liberation" at the end
.
Came here after having seen Krieger's "Celeste & Jesse forever" which was delightful. Here I gotta say I'm disappointed, as this movie tasted of already seen too many times, one of those you leave behind as soon as you leave the theater.
It's ok for a slow night where you're looking for something predictable and forgettable, made with technical craft. But not much more than that

The Age of Adaline is a well-crafted and compelling character drama. The story follows a young woman named Adaline Bowman who doesn’t age and must re-invent herself every decade to avoid suspicion, but her blossoming new romance with a charming philanthropist gives her hope that she can stop running. Blake Lively gives an excellent performance and has a classic look that enables her to seamlessly blend into the various time periods (whether it’s the ‘20s, the ‘60s, or modern day). Additionally, the sets and costumes are quite impressive and give the film an elegant look and feel. And the score is quite beautiful, providing an enchanting, surreal-like quality. Incredibly heartwarming, The Age of Adaline is a captivating tale about the magic of life.

I've read and seen similar storylines but this version is my favorite. There's just a lot of elegance to it, which I love. The characters are amazing and I have to say that the song choices complimented the scenes very nicely. That's something you probably won't typically notice but I think that it really made this movie stand out.

Cool concept. It would have made a great 4- minute episode in a series of creative stories. The characters were sometimes annoying. Ellis is a creepy fellow if you think about. Adaline has no idea what she is doing in life and so on the fence. Kathy's dramatic jealousy did not make any sense. William did not seem phased by the depth of this story at all. There needs to be more conflict, suspense, and mystery. The narrator made this sound all too silly.

I **LOVED** this film so much. In order for me to enjoy a "love story", it has to contain something more than just the tried & true Harlequin tropes and clichés. For me to become invested, it has to be about something. And this film delivers in spades. It's Sci-Fi, but it's so authentic in every other facet of the story, that the... "magic" simply becomes miniscule. The magic is still important to the overall plot, but it's not front and center. Adaline is front and center. Her struggles, her joys, her pains. We connect with Adaline so sincerely that we experience these things with her as opposed to watching her go through them. That's rare in hollyweird, these days.

The acting was superb. Not one performance falls short. I don't know what a "perfect film" is and I don't spend my time looking for one. What I love are movies/films that entertain me from beginning to end and _**The Age of Adaline**_ thoroughly entertained me.

A lovely story made believable by the wonderful turn by Blake Lively.

One of the comments here mentions her beauty being perfect as she fits in to all the different decades - a very apt comment.

The cast are excellent but Harrison Ford delivers a powerhouse performance here.

Post-COVID films will have lower budgets I feel and films like this will become more common. I'm glad that we'll see a return to character driven, well written, well acted films.

I saw this 5 years ago and it moved me just as much on rewatch. Though I had remembered little of the details of the plot, the concept had stuck with me vividly.

Heartily recommended.
