Honestly, even Romero can make a bad film, don't be obliged to rate up just due to his name. This has all the subtlety and art of a 70s AFI educational short.

**"Remember, as you watch the film, one day you will be old."** _The Amusement Park_ functions as harrowing and disturbing look on how the world treats the elderly on daily basis. Sadly still relevant to this day. I always think being old is horrifying so being able to experience this inescapable nightmare was scary. It's like watching a longer version of Twilight Zone episode. Some parts are too on the nose but it's meant to be a PSA so I guess that's intentional. Glad I could finally see this long lost film! Thanks to GARF for the beautiful restoration and Shudder for picking this up.

Like age spots: not really scary, deep, or interesting. I really didn't want to dislike this movie but here we are. It seemed just a collection of skits meant to show abuse of the elderly through the weak metaphor of an old man at an amusement park. Cliché, forced, very loud and duller than knives in an old folks home. George A. Romero is an important director, he's just not a very good one.

[Sitges FF] Old age as a nightmare psychological state, in an amusement park that should be fun but turns into hell. Two young people see their future of old age battered and react with violence. The protagonist (Lincoln Maazel, who lived to be 106 years old), travels a path of torture, a real Via Crucis, to warn us at the end that everything we watched is a mirror of our own old age. Authentic horror movie.
