The Arena

Not bad for a '70s grindhouse film. The pacing is actually good, it's a simple story, it does what it needs to, then it's finished. The focus and highlight of The Arena are the ladies - mainly Pam Grier, in her prime. We get a large helping of nudity early on, but that's the end of it; so, don't expect to see boobs from start to finish. If you enjoy grindhouse movies from the era, or if you're a Pam Grier fan, I'd recommend this. In fact, if this had been given a little more money for special effects, I could see it being a classic within the genre. There is some animal cruelty, which had nothing to do with the story, it was just there. The director seems to have a problem with chickens. Just a reminder: animals are not ours to use for entertainment; they are here with us not for us.
