I really loved Nicole Kidman in this movie, but the story line is not worth it.. I was hoping for something more but in the end its just a disappointment and waste of good cast members.

Not as effective, or as beguiling, as the 1971 original. The soft-focus and abbreviated storytelling don't help.

The Beguiled in a word is best described with "different". The movie disregards typical cinema techniques, which most obviously jumps at you with its antique 4:3 format, which on the big screen looks totally alienating, even if you grew up in the 80s and 90s and still know that television ha More

I neither read the book, nor seen the original film. It was a small slice of the American civil war. But did not focused on the actual war. A fictional drama that followed an injured soldier who sheltered in a girls school was looked after well by the stayed back More

A well acted Civil War drama, but one that perhaps would have played better on the stage of a theatre than the screen of a cinema.
