Very good film with a great horror atmosphere. It's a pity that he was so weird end, otherwise great horror.

An effectively creepy Irish haunted house horror that absolutely nails the location and atmosphere, it’s just a shame that the overall story doesn’t quite live up to it. Right from the beginning, it plays out like every other haunted house film and it's really obvious it's adapted from a short film. It feels like it has to pad out its already short runtime and the sheer stupidity on display here is also astounding, like it's instilled in every single character. That said, there's some genuinely creepy moments and it manages to build some decent tension. The first couple of acts are average at best but the film really delivers in the third act.

Atmosphere, location and the start of the story were promising but then everything evolved into garbage and some hilarious scenes.

This movie was interesting enough, but not great. And the ending was a bit weak. But you might enjoy it anyway.

How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!

Rating this high because the movie had some decent creep factors. Plus, it had potential. Imho there was just too much ground to cover for any movie length to effectively explore what it set out to do. I feel it would be better as a book

The first two-thirds of this movie were awesome. A very different concept, something that reminded me a little of As Above, So Below. I was super into it despite some questionable acting and stupid actions from the characters!

Then everything dissolved into
your standard supernatural pact-with-the-devil horseshit,
and it was all downhill from there. The story starts falling apart and the end is super unsatisfying and cliché. It's so much more disappointing because they really had something cool at the start.

What a load of absolute Garbage and boring as Hella. I've seen this story/
Scenario done a million times and everyone of them blow this shit movie out of the water.
I hated the family very very unlikeable indeed.
The kids we're annoying as Hella and the parents we're boring and just let their kids unattended to get got anyway, if they don't care then why should I.
What a god awful movie and this is time I have spent grind...Grinding my way through that I'm never going to get back. I nearly didn't make it to the end it was that shit.

I WOULD RATHER SUBMIT MYSELF TO A PROSTATE EXAMINATION THAN EVER SEE THIS BORING POINTLESS RUBBISH EVER AGAIN.

This movie definitely doesn’t bring anything new to the horror genre, in fact it uses just about every cliche, but it was rather entertaining. It was atmospheric, moody, and had me thinking more about the underlying subject by the end.

It’s no A Dark Song but I think if you’re a fan of horror, you’ll find it worth the watch. Just don’t expect anything new.

On no basis can I recommend watching "The Cellar".

The story is a mess with cliches and poor dialogue. The characters are vacant and hollow, 1 dimensional, like the way you'd expect NPC's to star in a film.

The acting is transparently poor. Every emotion seems forced, even when it's not necessary. (The conversation with the old woman my best example).

I watched it twice, and I genuinely can't think of a reason anyone would want to watch this once unless you're a glutton for dissappointment.

has some nice moments of atmospheric horror but on the whole it wasn't super engaging. after watching the scream franchise i think what makes or breaks horror films is really the ability to get invested in either the protagonists, antagonists or the object of focus. the house didn't get its full creepiness in, the protagonists were hard to get to know (the only one you really do know is gone most of the movie) and the antagonists are pretty intangible until the end. so nothing pulls this up out of the watchable-but-meh realm of horror.

Has more tropes than if there were an international trope festival celebrating genre tropes but has a third act not out of place in a Lucio Fulci film. Therefore, worth a watch.
I was a fan of the ‘we are all screwed’ ending. Rarely does all of Fulci’s cast have a happy ending, and those films are all the better for it
