I remember watching this practically every year around Christmastime as a kid. My brother especially loved it. Watching it now, though, the similarities to Toy Story are _too_ on-point to be mere coincidence. It's kind of crazy. I never noticed this as a kid (not to mention I had no concept of the fact that this predates it by 9 years). Having an open fireplace in the children's playroom seems like an _absolutely awful_ idea. That's a bad and horrific accident waiting to happen.
