agressively medicore. nothing really happens until the end and even that is just whatever. love this screen life genre but this is a dud.

Looks like they have already been doing computer screen movies in the 2000s :smiley:... What is mostly aspiring to be another Blair Witch Project has a somewhat decent outline but fails to bring it all together. A lot more could have been done with the backstory and the ending was quite disappointing [spoiler]too random and odd (unearthing all the photographs with a single finger??) and with a shitty twist[/spoiler]. I also believe "jumpscare image" pranks were at a peak around this time :ghost:... wish it was more grainy in the dark like in the beginning tbh.

I went into this film expecting another run-off-the-mill found footage and came away a bit creeped out. This is an effectively spooky and inventive early found footage set on Halloween season. I have no idea that computer screen horror started this early, so it gets a bonus point for being ahead of its time. So much patience in developing the atmosphere and the brooding danger. I wasn't too interested at first since it just seems like people talking via webcam and the desktop interface looks so ancient, but then it starts to lull me into the conspiracy theory and things keep getting compelling and also scarier. It's atmospheric and unsettling pretty much the entire way through and the scares are effective and don't feel cheap in the way found footage scares usually feel. The mediocre cam quality and subtle eerie sounds add a whole new level of unease and terror. Solid Halloween season watch.

Gets a few points for being ahead of it's time in some ways regarding concept and the acting is good. Sadly story wise it doesn't progress well and is anti climactic
