Fantastic follow up. It doesn't quite follow the same themes, but it's interesting enough in its own right, with the mentoring story. The Scorsese direction makes it even more fresh.

I think it's the first time that I didn't fully enjoy a Martin Scorsese film.

The first hour didn't work very well for me, I caught myself thinking about other stuff, unfortunately I was getting bored, I wasn't totally concentrated. The second half of the film it's when things started to get interesting due to the intensification of the conflict between the two main characters.

I guess what turns it into such a heavy film to see and it causes us some kind of monotony too, is the fact that almost every scene is passed into pool halls. The pace in the first half is not the best too.

Paul Newman gives a great performance and Tom Cruise is always good playing this kind of "boy with an attitude" roles. I was impressed by seeing that most of the scenes where the characters are playing pool it's actually Newman and Cruise playing. Their pool skills are very good!

Martin Scorsese used his best skills to film this one, it's absolutely well filmed. He turns pool games into gorgeous things to look at. The editing is also great.

Too bad it didn't captivated me since the beginning. The Color of Money is not a bad film but I expected more.

It's not The Hustler. This is Top Gun/Cocktail/Days of Thunder: Pool edition. Older mentor. Check. Cocky young and talented guy that makes really bad mistakes with both his career and girlfriend. Check. Contemporary music score. Check. Feels like Scorsese said "I wonder how good a movie I can make where I literally put no effort in?" This, my friends, is the answer.

I'm pretty sure i'd seen this one before, but i didn't remember much of it. Maybe i should have taken that as notice. Though the movie has its parts, i felt wanting more when it came to the ending. I didn't have much attachment to the characters. Their actions mattered little to me.

I didn't realize this was a sequel, I will have to go back and watch The Hustler. I thought this was better than a pool movie has any right to be. Paul Newman is great and the old wise guy and Tom Cruise brings a lot of fun energy. The way Scorsese shoots and edits the pool scenes make it faster and more entertaining.

I had bigger hopes for this movie but unfortunately it failed to allure me as much as I expected. Still it's an average movie but don't get your hopes up like I did.

Very disappointing. I love Paul Newman, not so much Tom Cruise (I *did* enjoy him in the _Jack Reacher_ movies), but this was just a big disappointment. The story was there; the effort clearly wasn't. So much more could have been done with this but the characters were just lifeless, dull, completely uninteresting so it was impossible to get connected to any of them. It was obvious that Vince (Tom Cruise) wasn't going to listen, wasn't interested in learning, so of course he was never going to achieve the potential that Eddie (Paul Newman) saw in him. There was nothing exciting about this, no jaw-dropping revelations, and seriously...the closing scene was straight out of Sylvester Stallone's _Rocky_ movies. That only exacerbated the multitude of problems with this film. I would recommend skipping this one; it's a two-hour dull plodding headache that even Excedrin can't cure.

**Brilliantly executed sequel to _The Hustler_, wherein the worst thing is Tom Cruise's hair.**

I’m not sure I would come away with the same feelings if I didn’t watch The Hustler first, but it’s really wild that a movie that is gleefully about a man slipping back into his old vices while corrupting someone innocent which culminates in a victorious 80s freeze frame because at least he finally feels something, is considered Scorsese’s “one for the studios”
