I don't understand what I watched. Feel like wasted a day binge watching it. But you can't resist watching Waltz do what he does best, act which is the only good thing about this show.

@whos_ur_buddha Not my words, its a review by Game-away on IMDB, but they say what I was going to so much better than I could have.<br /> <br />
<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The Consultant holds up a mirror to you that speaks and says: It does not matter if you liked the show or not. You watched it, I got your money, our transaction is concluded. And that is what businesses do today. Everything is dystopian from the scripted responses the non-good-English-speaking far eastern tech support reads to you, to products guided by focus groups and are only meant to last for a very short time till you move on to the next product, and, very importantly, there is no longer any interest to the quality of products because the consumers have lost the ability to evaluate quality, or purpose of the product for that matter.<br /> <br /> Administrative assistants can rise to CEO's overnight for doing as they are told, whatever they are told to do. Bosses have the power of gods over the lives of employees who have descended to the level of ants. Employees don't know who the boss is, what the boss is, and they cannot piece together the clues.<br /> <br /> In The Consultant, the central question of who or what is REG. US. PAT. OFF is constantly raised and never answered: Is he the Devil, is he a spirit, does he even exist at all, or is he an extremely devious manager of situations, capable of getting people around him to achieve any result he wants? The only thing that is proven as fact, after watching this series, is that his skeleton is not made of organic bone but of pure gold. Allegory? Metaphor? Or just another meaningless device for a product that is meant to excite, momentarily, and then we move on, but the production company has thrived already by our meaningless excitement?<br /> <br /> I have serious issues with where viewership demand for shows and consequent stories and script-writing are going. Beyond that, Christoph Waltz's performance holds it all together because he is the perfect actor to use in the product that this short series was.<br /> <br /> Now, we can all resume regular programming waking-hours gaming application of thumbs-on-smartphone-screen.
Its worth watching. If you enjoyed Devil's Advocate movie without the sexy bits. Then this is for you. What if the devil was your boss? For me if the devil was my boss. I would quit day one! Besides if you stop remote working, the first day you are running a company. This is surely the work of the devil! :)

It got me hooked from the first episode. I agree it is not for everyone, this show. I found it very intriguing and fascinating. Mystery all the way, binged in two days.
I liked the ending very much.

Watched this for Christoph Waltz and while he didn’t disappoint, the show in general failed to deliver. The story had enough going for it that it could have been made into something much better but I don’t the creators of The Consultant really understood what the story. Instead there are a bunch of characters and things put together in a way that has little cohesion. I’m assuming the book either made more sense or the story works better in book form where individual readers are imagining a lot in the gaps where a tv show tends to be prescriptive.

I feel like the rest of the cast were hurt more by the script/directing than Waltz and while they the general theme is of the devil corrupting otherwise good people and how that corruption plays into their success in life, it was at times both wishy washy and too obvious.

I watched the entire first season. From the very first episode, I was hooked. You just wanted to know how this strange story would continue. What remains at the end? Actually only the confusing feeling that one has understood nothing. None of my questions were answered. There are open strands for 25 more seasons. That can't really be it. What's in the files? Why golden bones? Why? The only thing that really impresses and remains is, as always, Waltz's acting.

[Prime Video] A sinister but not very consistent fable about capitalism and the culture of profits. Being a relatively short series, it goes around too many times to tell what it intends, and wastes the ability of an actor like Christoph Waltz to create a caricature that seems to have been taken from the worst nightmares of Twitter workers under the command of Elon Musk. Although his version of "My way" in the end credits is deliciously Machiavellian. Tony Basgallop raises an ambiguity that, as in "Servant", is more interested in creating an atmosphere than in giving consistency to the story.

After watching the whole first season*, I can sort of see the themes they tried to go for... but nothing solidifies, and there are no payoffs in the conclusion. This sort of undermines the whole story, since we are really just following a bunch of characters who are all just really bad people. Would have needed either likeable characters, or a story that actually is thought out.

*) It was a chore, I don't recommend it.

I became aware of the film through the great actor Christopher Waltz.

After watching the first season very quickly (the episodes are cut in a pleasant length and „intensity“), I am positively surprised by this Amazon own production.

Through from, the film is based on current events and also has a socio-critical component.

Undoubtedly the most interesting aspect of this TV series is the disturbing character of Regus Patoff, very controversial and masterfully played by a great Christoph Waltz. If you manage to get beyond the unease that the first two episodes can cause, you will find yourself ending the season in pure binge watching, in the space of an afternoon. Although it doesn't have the thickness of Severance or the complexity of Startup, The Consultant highlights the stereotypes of US corporations and the inadequacy of their CEOs, saved by the spirit of self-denial of the disturbing Regus Patoff.

I don't know. The first episode didn't seem interesting. It was a little too much Nancy Drew, with 2 random employees trying to find out what went on with their now dead boss.

I kept wondering, why should I care? Why do these 2 random employees opinions matter? If there is something suspicious, shouldn't they call the authorities?

This seems like a show about nosey people who can't mind their own business.
