Holds up extraordinarily well for a 20 year old flick. The aesthetic is the ultimate 90s grunge teen movie but it manages to exploit tropes of the genre. Fairuza Balk is a show stealer.

I can't believe I only just now watched this movie. It's definitely not the best thing I've seen and I can easily see that if this movie was made right now they would have probably upped the horror and made it bloody. It was a tame movie in terms of that.

The 90s vibe is what draws me in. Nostalgia. The clothes, the actors, the aesthetic... it's great.
The story is okay. I expected more action.

Good watch.

So goth, so 90s and so bitchy! ***The Craft*** is essentially the female version of *The Last Boys* but it's witches instead of vampires. This also inspired *Charmed*, which ended up being better in my memory. It has a good cast, Fairuza Balk's Nancy is easily the best performance and character overall. The characters have relatable struggles and distinct personalities. I really enjoyed the group dynamics in the first two acts. All four of them are relevant for most of the movie but when you get to the third act, two of them became unnecessary. It's a disappointing third act overall (except for the bugs, that was amazing). It also felt to me like some of our characters personalities completely changed when we entered the third act. The magic spells were so unoriginal overall, it's the most basic stuff. Awful ending!

Idk man. My friend has begged me to watch this under the guise of girl power but that’s not exactly what this movie is about.
I liked the acting and the storyline wasn’t bad at all but it was hyped to me as a women empowerment when only one chick stayed empowered. Would have liked it more if the conflict wasn’t between the girls.

In the 90's I would rather know Sabrina with a talking cat than crazy not sailor-moon characters. ;)

An exciting, stylistic teen horror film, The Craft is a cult hit that helped to revitalize the horror genre in the late ‘90s. After moving to a new town and enrolling in a private school, Sarah Bailey is befriended by a group of aspiring witches and is persuaded to join them; which completes their circle of four and allows them to tap into supernatural powers. Starring Robin Tunney, Neve Campbell, Fairuza Balk, and Skeet Ulrich, the film has a fresh young cast that has a lot of charisma. However, the writing is a little weak, particularly when it comes to the witchcraft, which is ill-defined and changes to fit the needs of the plot. And the story is heavily reliant on tropes and clichés; i.e. love spells, revenge against bullies, power corrupting, white vs. black magic, etc. Yet despite its lack of originality, The Craft is an entertaining and suspenseful thriller.
