Had no expectations at all the first time I watched The Crazies, but it turned out to be a nice surprise. Now it's one of those movies I take out once in a while just to rewatch. I don't jump much anymore, but I like it enough to don't mind that.

I believe most horror fans that like the zombie genre would enjoy this one. It's not actually a zombie movie but works just as well. If you end up liking this one, check out the original from the early seventies as well.

It's an OK and entertaining horror-action-flick that is missing a good plot. But still a fun watch if you like such films, although there are definitely better movies available in this genre...

Good movie, nothing special like Inception, but I don't mean that in a bad way. Has Timothy Olyphant, I am a fan, I enjoyed it.

Kind of unrelated, but I just thought of it so I am sharing it, The Veteran (2011) is a good movie.

It was honestly good and stuff, all up until the end, which I didn't mind except that "happy ending" crap. I mean for real. They are on the edge of a nuclear blast, so bad it destroys the 18 Wheeler... Totals it, and they climb out UNSCATHED?! ffs. Just... No. ‍♂:no_good:‍♂
Timothy Olyphant always makes a good sheriff. It's like his thing. Idk.

I bought this on Blu-Ray about a year ago and finally took the plastic off and watched it. The first time I saw it, I streamed it so seeing it again on Blu-Ray made it an even better experience. I did not remember it being such a colorful movie.

There is quite a bit of gore but nothing that will make you squirm, well other than a knife through a hand, which is a little harsh. This isn't scary. It's more of a Thriller than a Horror movie. There's lots of action and some good dialogue. The characters are very likable and Timothy Olyphant is probably one of the coolest small-town Sheriffs ever put to film. One problem, and it's probably the only issue I have with the movie, is that every time the Sheriff leaves someone alone, that person gets attacked. It's a little predictable, but I'm picking nits.

I never hear this talked about and that's a shame.

Awesome film about people in town going violent because of a mysterious toxin in the water supply. Is it a solid remake? I don't know. I haven't watched the original but I'm going to! It's really fun to watch, has decent kills, a lot of creepy and tense moments, and it cuts right to the chase. The third act drags a little but still tolerable. Some of the dialogues sound like it made for tv movie but Russell can destroy me anytime.

I didn’t have much expectations for this film, other than thinking it would be a low budget, easygoing horror film. How wrong I was! Not only it is a decent horror film but also scary at times. Yeah, it certainly is not a 10 out of 10 horror film, for sure, but it’s certainly worth watching.

Would I watch it again? Yeah! Would I make my friends watch it? Absolutely!

Timothy Olyphant in a horror movie? I wish that would happen more! And damn, he has trouble starting up cars!

Anyway, The Crazies is a solid remake of the George A. Romero movie. Only this time we see one side of the coin. Which totally works. I loved the slow build up, the pitch fork scene, the way the crazies looked, the ending, the acting! Joe Anderson's mustache. The tension. The scene in the carwash was the best! What a poor way for Danielle Panabaker to go! The action scenes are well strung together too and the jump scares were okay.

I'm happy that I decided to watch this one today after hearing about it on the Shockwaves Podcast (Recommend listening to it if you like Horror!) Solid way to spend the afternoon!

@larziej Olyphant is boss :metal: he can pull off anything - sheriff mode seems to be this crazy type cast though since Deadwood, and I think it's because he just does it so well. :joy: He was great in that

A great flick. I re-watch it on occasion. It's got charm. Wish there was a bit more substance or explanation but still very well done.

Call me Crazies, but I kinda wish they'd have mixed the pacing / storyline of the original with the resources of the remake.
