Si. El pasado existió. Pero ya pasó, ¿no es así?

I'm quite late to watching this film for the first time. It is 2023. Great film, loved it, yes please. I loved the "new kid on the block" Adrien Brody (now not so new in the Anderson Universe), and the three brothers interactions (the fighting, the in-jokes, the frustrations, the cameraderie). Beautiful film, and although relatively one of the early films, very much in Anderson terms as it has all the recognisable colours, shots, camera tracking etc. A.K.A. the Anderson Signature Charm.

Even with the drastic change in setting, all the signature charm is still present, and I like it. It's everything you like to see in a Wes Anderson movie: meandering dialogue, complicated familial relationships, 90 degree panning shots, and more. There were at least three times in the last twenty minutes where I thought it was going to end, but it didn't. That's not to say the pacing is bad. In fact, this probably had some of my favourite pacing in any Wes Anderson movie I've seen.

If you love Wes Anderson's movies, you'll love this one (or you've most likely already seen it). If you don't, I'm so sorry.

P.S. Still waiting for a sequel titled "The Darjeeling Unlimited"

This may just be my least favorite Wes Anderson movie. Now that's not to see that it isn't good, it is, it's loads of quirky fun with some hilarious turns from the main three. The story just doesn't completely gel for me in the way the best of Anderson's work does.

Of those we have seen of the director, it is the one that has least convinced us, although it visually has its style

I loved all three brothers and their chemistry. They seemed believable. Watching them go on this silly trip was fun.

I admittedly only got through half of this movie. I should have listened to the mediocre reviews. I felt like I was on the train with them in real time, and that’s not a compliment. Needless to say not all of Anderson's films are gems.

This was a lot of fun as always. Really good comedy, characters and dialogue but I hope the whole spiritual retreat in india theme was satirical, cus otherwise that’s hella obnoxious.

I have a feeling that it might be harder to appreciate this film retrospectively, as Anderson’s usual tropes are all there but aren’t as polished as they would be in his later works. Even though the three brothers’ parable felt somewhat forgettable, it remains a beautifully crafted film nevertheless, with more than a few memorable moments.
