Pointless movie without good cinematography or any special atmosphere.Some dialogues are completely off and i was waiting something totally different.I think it's almost a waste of time if it wasn't for shailene whose perfomance was wow i could rate it lower.

>"Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen." When this came out, I hated it. I thought it was slow and boring. 10 years later, I pop this in and expect to hate it, but nope. This movie is really good. It takes it's time but it's necessary. Also, Hawaii vibes are so chill and I love how everyone dresses.

Strange tonal inconsistencies throughout. Alexander Payne often tries for pathos that I don’t think he earns–his antipathy for his characters creates an emotional distance for me that leaves me feeling cold. I like Shailene Woodley in this role, but there were some pretty strange miscastings. Judy Greer is magnificent as always and should be in all the things.
