Entertaining, tight and quite ambitious in how many different genres it's balancing (crime; teen comedy; erotic thriller; splatter). Araki continuously makes bold directorial choices and his music taste is excellent. However, it tries way too hard to be cool and the acting's generally crap. The dialogue is simultaneously quotable and extremely juvenile, cutting down on some of the excessive cursing and try-hard edginess of it all would've gone a long way. It's not the best 90s teen film but the interesting characters keep this thing watchable. 5.5/10

How do I describe The Doom Generation and have it mean anything? I could talk about the soundtrack, the cameos, the dialog, but it would make about as much sense as detailing how a rollercoaster feels; you can accurately lay out the speed, and height, but it doesn't have any impact until it's experi More
