This movie was wrong on so many levels. It was as expected though. Jessica Simpson flat out can not act. We all knew that. But she wasn't the worst singer trying to be actor in this flick. That honor goes to Willie Nelson. His lines were mechanical and painful to hear. There had to have been someone better that auditioned to play Uncle Jesse. The paper thin plot line was about equal to one episode of the TV show in strength. It basically serves as an excuse to drive the General Lee all over Georgia to some VERY sweet stunts with a secondary purpose of letting us see Daisy show off her assets. Note that the boys seemingly drive all night to Atlanta to get the core samples tested but when they run in trouble with the law, Daisy shows up to save the day immediately. Just a minor complaint. Possibly most annoying was the character of Billy Prickett, the towns favorite son and four-time winner of the road rally. He not only looked exactly like Ben Stiller's character in Dodgeball, he was played the same. There was some entertainment value to this movie. I did enjoy it to some extent and got exactly what I was expecting.

@bob-frapples ... could not agree more. The sadness to me is how mis-cast it was. Burt Reynolds as Boss Hogg... why? and yes, the stunts were good, the characters dumb... but the soundtrack saves the day a few times and despite the phoned in performances and terrible accents, I couldn't hate it as much as I wanted to...having grown up in south Georgia, with a Charger, & a steady diet of Duke boys, it did bring back some good memories despite the fact the movie downright mocks the source material.

Bad watch, probably won't watch again, and can't recommend.

I don't fault anyone for liking this one, but it's a story from another time and place to me. I have an issue with Confederate Battle Flag, which was much more widely accepted when the series was first created vs this remake, but even ignoring that it's about moonshine runners getting away with horrible driving practices and whatever else they can get away with. They're not good guys, they're just less bad, and maybe that's part of the appeal for some people.

I went into this knowing that Johnny Knoxville ("Jackass") and Seann William Scott ("American Pie": Stifler) are both really funny, and at least Jessica Simpson is pretty, but she's not the Siren they present her to be, but comedy. On the boys' side, you get pretty much what you would expect, but nothing surprisingly good. Though there is a scene where they're pretty much thankful to be arrested because they're about to be killed for a "black face" joke. I'll admit the context is pretty nuanced and well handled, but they also...could have just not done it.

I'm stretching for good bits, and the best thing is probably the script. The actual story of two average idiots trying to save their town from an evil capitalist they do is actually pretty good. Imagine the "evil oil baron" bit from "The Muppets", but they're country boys.

It's not a complete waste, but it's definitely not a movie that I'd recommend or sit down to watch with someone.
