This is EXTREMELY biased. If I didn't know any better I'd probably be rooting for Lula and Dilma all along. But I really liked some of the images in the movie and the story is so fascinating with all the twists. There's much more than what was shown here.

[Netflix] A personal look at the entire process of the institutional coup that Brazil suffered in 2013. It is less rigid than "O processo" (Maria Ramos, 2018), but it gives the impression that information is hidden to justify the narrative. For example, it is not well understood why the PT lost the support of the population. It is a documentary that tries to indoctrinate instead of narrating.

When the media in Brazil is so concentrated in the hands of elite families, a documentary like this, showing the side of the story not shown in mainstream media, is critical. The documentary clearly demonstrates how the campaign against Rousseff and Lula was an outgrowth of the political elite fearing its loss of power. It certainly is the "edge of democracy" when the political elite can oust a president out of fear for what corruption investigations are going to do to them. Yes impeachment is a legal tool, but only someone who cannot see past their convictions is unable to see that the impeachment process was fallacious on many levels. Rousseff's comparison to Kafka's The Trial is apt, as she is deposed without having committed any actually impeachable offence. (In The Trial, the protagonist is tried and convicted of a crime that is never revealed to him). And since this time, of course, the "crime" Lula is convicted of here has been nullified.

Um documentário extremamente triste de um país chafurdando no fascismo. This is the black box of Brazil's fall into fascism.

One of the best documentaries I've ever watched. Offers an in depth dicussion of the rise and fall of the socialdemocratic party in Brazil with an artisanal and thrilling 1.p-pov narrative.

Stopped after watching half. Not sure what it was, but the storytelling never grabbed me and I found it both too slow (constant interruptions of the core story with uninteresting personal recollections) and too fast (not enough time setting up the historical context and showing the sequence of event More
