Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) is back and inflicting justice to those who deserve it. This time, someone he is very close to is harmed and he will stop at nothing to get to them.

Antoine Fuqua and Denzel Washington return for this enjoyable sequel that is just as good as the first. This is Denzel's fist sequel in his career, and it is one I am glad he chose to do. At the beginning of the first, McCall was trying to live I a quiet life, but after seeing how he can use his skills to help those in need, he decides to carry out justice.

I was a little sad to see Chloe Grace Moretz not return, even for a small part, but I guess that would have just been unnecessary as she probably wouldn't have added anything to the plot. This time around we have Ashton Sanders as a young kid Robert mentors called Miles Whittaker. I really enjoyed his performance in Moonlight, and he was just as good here as a talented kid hanging around with the wrong crowd. The message Antoine tried to make with these two I thought was very clear and it worked really well. My favourite parts of the movie were when the two was on screen together, especially a particular scene where they have a heart to heart. I really felt that, and the chemistry was strong.

I felt the plot took quite a while to get going and it felt like the Denzel scenes were the sub plot and the other stuff going on in the background was the main plot. It took it's time before Denzel got involved in this. The actions scenes were pretty good, but the acting is the films strongest point. The plotting was a little bit of a mess and I think this is where the film lacks just a little bit from the first one. First one wasn't perfect either, but I could understand it a bit more. The set up for the final showdown was much better however in this movie and even though it was not great, it was slightly better than the firsts in the hardware store. The setting for it was incredible, I just wish there was more realness to it and felt a little to anti climatic.

Overall, I enjoyed this movie probably equal to the first one. They both had things they did better and worse than each other. I had a good time. 7/10.
